Kebbi State Governor , Abubakar Atiku Bagudu , has commended the people of Mai- Iyali and Bagudo villages for preserving the three elephants roaming their settlements .
He gave the commendation during a tour of the area , assuring the indigenes that his administration will continue to cater for their welfare and provide them with agricultural inputs .
The governor expressed happiness with the communities , particularly farmers , whose farmland was being grazed on a daily basis by the elephants, urging them to sustain the gesture . Bagudu , who was visiting for the third time , came with his children to a catch a glimpse of the heavy plant- eating mammals .
Briefing the governor on how they have been coping with the elephants , Mallam AbdulZaki Mai- Iyali said the animals , which feed daily on their guinea – corn , millet and sorghum , were , however , friendly to farmers .
The village head , Mallam Garba Hakimi , urged the state government to provide access road , farm inputs and social amenities to the community and its environs .He assured the governor of the continued preservation of the animals .
