We shall Ensure PDP’s Victory Come
October 10 Guber election in Ondo –
Oladimeji
Oladimeji Busuyi Michael from Ilisa
Ward 5, Akure South Local Government
Area of Ondo State emerged the
Peoples Democratic Party Chairman,
AKSLG Chapter in the March 21 PDP’s
Local Government Congress. The
gentleman politician in this interview
with our correspondent bares his mind
on setting standards in political party
administration at the local government
level to ensuring his party wins the
forthcoming October 10, gubernatorial
election in the state. Other relevant
issues discussed. Except:
How did you feel following your
emergence as Chairman of the Akure
South LG Chapter of the PDP?
For all things, we need giving glory to
God. It is by God’s grace that I
emerged. There were other contestants
who are equally qualified. I was the Vice
Chairman before now. The position was
opened to all our dedicated and
committed members but I want to say
I’m elated I was I emerged. It is a rare
privilege, I must say. My appreciation
goes to the leadership of the ward and
all members who counted me worthy.
The individual commitment and purpose
leadership displayed all through the
process is highly commendable. I feel
great to be in the position because it is
also a chance and call to serve.
How would you describe the conduct of
the congress?
Let me say this first: The PDP is an
organized political party. In fact the
most organized in Africa. The party
conducted a hitch free congress in
Akure South. All the laid down
processes, guidelines and procedures
were dully followed and supervised by
the Independent National Electoral
Commission. Unlike other political
parties where in many occasions come
to their congresses with weapons and
begin to inflict injuries on their
members, we were orderly during the
congress without rancour. Every
member is involved and happy with the
outcome. So once again,I’m using this
medium to thank the entire leadership of
our party in this local government.
Noteworthy is the extreme efforts of
Ambassador Omolade Oluwateru who is
the former Deputy Governor of Ondo
State. In same vein, I’m commending
the loyalty, sense of commitment and
unwavering support of all PDP members
in Akure South for making us having
hitch free congresses beginning from
the ward level. It is my hope that the
spirit continues in all our activities and
the forthcoming gubernatorial primary.
Do you think the PDP can have a hitch
free gubernatorial primary like it
occurred during your congress?
The PDP will surely have. Like I said, we
are most organized and experience in
Africa. Let me also say this that the PDP
has no godfather that will impose any
aspirant as candidate. The party will
conduct free and fair primary for its
governorship candidate to emerge.
There is always spirit of oneness and all
the aspirants will work together to
support the candidate that emerge
eventually. All the aspirants are aspiring
to win for the party. They are
experienced and are not new to the art.
So, there’s going to be peace because
all we want is victory for the PDP.
Now that you are the local government
chairman of your party. What is your
agenda?
The agenda of the PDP is to win the for
coming election and redefine
governance in the state and liberate the
citizens from deception which has held
them in penury for these years past.
That is my greatest agenda. I will also
add that the whole executive that
emerged with me shall strive to ensure
there is unity among all the party
members. This is because no
meaningful progress can be made in
any organization without unity. We shall
also carry out party activities according
to guidelines, rules and regulation. we
are coming in to paint brighter colour.
on the existing pretty administration of
the party in Akure South. It is our
responsibility to bring more people into
the fold. The grassroots shall be further
redefine in order to boost the chances of
reclaiming Ondo State.
