After due and extensive deliberations during its emergency meeting at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Wednesday, the Kaduna State Sports Stakeholders has identified several challenges confronting sports in the state and are seeking way forward in addressing the issues.
Speaking to newsmen immediately after the meeting, the convener, Ekene Abubakar Adams observed that due to the neglect, sporting activities in the state have suffered set back in the last 5 years.
Adams disclosed that the essences of the meeting is to look for a way forward. “we have not come to attack any body or damage any body’s reputation.
“Kaduna is blessed with sports facilities but, today we are the least when it comes to sports development”.
In his own remarks, former Commissioner of Sports Hon. Shehu Adamu, said that the committee has come up with a lasting solution inline with government’s regulations.
Honourable Adamu noted that the Governor of the State is a sports loving Governor and he is yarning to take sports to a greater height.
The meeting had in attendance relevant stakeholders in the sports industry in the state and chaired by the former Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) Dr. Tijjani Yusuf.
Other dignitaries who attended the meeting were former Commissioners of youths and sports in the state. Hon. Abdul-Azeez Mohammed and Dr Shehu Adamu, President Nigeria volleyball Federation (NVBF) Engineer Musa Nimrod and a Board member of the Kaduna Football Association (FA) Engineer Abubakar Yusuf (Best).
Also in attendance were Professor Simon K. Daniel from Kaduna State University (KASU), Professor Mariam Suleiman head of human kinetics and education Ahmadu Bello University and Mr Habila Abel from ministry of sports development among several others.
