Pogba’s Man United career is over

Manchester United are reportedly ready to cut ties with Paul Pogba as they seek to move on from their former world record signing.

And they are willing to listen to offers in the region of £100m for the World Cup winner whose contract is up next summer, according to The Sun.

Pogba’s Old Trafford future has been uncertain for the best part of 12 months after he failed to force through a move to Real Madrid last summer.

United were holding out for a £150m sale in 2019 but will be forced to settle for less as the option of triggering a one-year extension appears increasingly remote.

Both player and club are now reportedly eager to go their separate ways sooner than later, despite the recent upturn in form of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Pogba has suffered an injury-ravaged campaign, and has made only two appearances since the end of September.

He was due to make his comeback from ankle surgery this month, but that has been curtailed by the suspension of all football due to the coronavrius pandemic.

Solskjaer said just last week that he expected Pogba to still be playing for the club next season.

Pogba was strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid last summer after revealing he wanted a new challenge, but a move failed to materialise.

In January, Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, then claimed the midfielder was only committed to the club until the end of the season.

However, when asked about Pogba’s future after his side’s 5-0 win over LASK in the first leg of their last-16 Europa League tie, Solskjaer said he will stay.

‘Paul’s our player,’ he said. He has two years left on his contract, a year plus the option of another. ‘You can expect Paul to be here [next season], yeah.’

It comes after Sportsmail last week reported that Pogba had made a U-turn on his desire to leave and would sign new terms.
