Profile of Mr. Prince Ofosu Sefah

Prince Ofosu Sefah is currently the Deputy Director General – Operations (DDG-Ops) of the National Communications Authority (NCA), a position he was appointed to, in April 2017.

He is also currently the Chairman of Diaspora Patriots in Ghana (DPG) Foundation, a position to which he was elected in December 2019.

Mr. Sefah holds a Master of Business Administration (Human Resources Management) from the University of Ghana, Legon and a Bachelor of Commerce (Information Technology Management) from Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada.

He holds many Professional Certifications including from Microsoft, has undertaken much professional training and attended many industry conferences and workshops.

He is the recipient of an Economics Book Prize (on the Economy of Developing Countries) awarded by Ryerson University.

He is a versatile Business Systems Administration, Analysis and Management Professional as well as a Leader, with over 20 years progressive professional experience, spanning Manufacturing, Banking, ICT and Telecommunications sectors in Canada and Ghana.

He is currently also a Board Member of the Accra Digital Centre, chairing the Board’s Technical & Operations Committee as well as a Board Member of the Institute of ICT Professionals Ghana.

As DDG-Ops of the NCA, Mr. Sefah is primarily responsible for providing effective management of and strategic leadership of the Regional/Zonal Operations and the Administration Division of the Authority.

Regional/Zonal Operations/Offices (numbering 8 as at the end of October 2020), are at the heart of the NCA’s decentralized structure (outside the Corporate Headquarters of the Authority, which is located at the NCA Tower, Airport City, Accra), to nimbly monitor the country’s Radio Spectrum, are microcosms of the Authority’s core operational and support functions, such as Engineering and Administration.

Also, he has oversight over the Administration Division overall, which includes Facilities, New Property Development, Safety, Security, Fleet and General Administrative Services.

Most of Mr. Sefah’s prior professional experiences were in Toronto, Canada where he worked for well-known global companies like Citigroup, as Senior Systems Administrator & Site IT Manager, General Electric, as an Applications & Support Manager and Coinamatic Canada Inc. as Senior IT Systems Specialist & Head of the IT Helpdesk Team.

He has achieved an Advanced Leader (Silver) and Advanced Communicator (Silver) designations from Toastmasters International Organisation.

He was once the elected Vice President of Education and then the President of the North York Toastmasters Club, in Toronto, Canada.

He is Member of the NPP’s Eastern Regional Council of Patrons, a Patron of Mpraeso & Constituencies, Kwahu Patriots, Loyal Ladies (National), Staunch Queens (Kwahu Chapter) & a Member of Professionals for Change. He has also been an active supporter of the Eastern Regional Youth Wing.

Mr. Sefah was the Interim Organizer of the NPP’s Toronto Chapter for 2 years, then the Secretary for the same Chapter for 2 Terms, as well as the NPP Canada Branch Secretary, for one Term.

While Branch Secretary, the Edmonton Chapter of the Branch, where Mr. Sefah had recently moved to, beseeched him to take on additional duties as the Chapter Secretary, along with his Branch Secretary duties. He obliged dutifully.

In 2016, NPP Canada Branch adopted 12 Constituencies going into Elections, one of the highest within the External Branches of the Party. Only a small minority of those Constituencies were lost.

Mr. Sefah also led the Canada leg of the Diaspora Mobilisation Program for Election 2016, led by Dr. Fred Asamoah, formerly the 1st Vice Chairman of NPP USA Branch and Branch’s Charlotte Chapter Chairman and now the CEO of COTVET.

Mr. Sefah was key to the expansion of the Canada Branch from 2 to 7 Chapters.

Also, in 2010, he, together with Former NPP UK 1st Vice Chairman – Richard Dombo and now the CEO of the Railway Development Authority, founded one of the longest serving and most global forums for key NPP people worldwide, called Patriotic Forum.

Mr. Sefah also worked hard to try to get all the Branches to network and collaborate more. Indeed, he is known to be visionary, hardworking and, passionate advocate for collaboration amongst NPP’s External Branches.

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Mr. Sefah got around to bring together a few people, most especially Mr. Matthew Kyeremeh and Mr. Ernest Justice Ampong, to help found what has now become a registered NPP-affiliated organisation, called Diaspora Patriots in Ghana Foundation ( DPG).

Indeed, to push the organisation forward rapidly, he took on 3 key roles on an interim basis – Organizer, Treasurer and Fundraiser.

He worked tirelessly, ensuring that DPG is well-positioned to become a mainstay, whereby, it more smoothly help NPP Supporters and Members from the Diaspora who move to Ghana, have a ready vehicle for support, networking, transitioning and active political engagement.

In December of 2019, Mr. Sefah was elected as the first substantive Chairman of DPG, after a competitive election.

His Strategic Objectives for DPG, as Chairman, are as follows:

1. Harness the skills and provide a political platform for the teem of talented and experienced Returned Diaspora Patriots in Ghana, working with a robust Communications Team.

2. Set up a robust Fundraising Team to reach out to the larger Returned Diaspora Patriots in Ghana Community, to ensure that they are able to effectively actualise their ideas, ideals, vision, strategic objectives and plans, as well as lobby for particular issues of keen interests.

3. Strategize and work hard to build a robust Organizing Team to ensure that the organisation grows its Core Members fast, using very creative solutions, innovation and the application of technology.

4. Create an intellectual and strategic backbone, to ensure that DPG is creative and full of winning and impactful plans, for effective execution.

5. Within his 2-year mandate, lead DPG to be fully recognized by the Diaspora Community as well as the NPP at large, as the unquestioned platform for Returned Diaspora Patriots in Ghana.

6. Ensure teamwork, harmony and camaraderie within the Organisation.

7. Update the Rules and Regulations of DPG based on Best Practices, gaps identified for closing, as well as lessons learned, for continuous improvement.

Mr. Sefah father’s roots are from Kwahu Asakraka and Obomeng. His father – Apostle Emmanuel Alfred Ofosu is from the Aduana Royal Family of Asakraka. He founded the Church of the Lord Brotherhood in Ghana. His Mom’s roots are from Kwahu Obomeng, Mpraeso/Kotoso. It is noteworthy, though, that his mom’s ancestors migrated from Agona Kwanyarko a couple of generations back and are from Agona Royal family there.

Mr. Sefah is married to Mavis Brew, a Registered Nurse in Ontario and Alberta, Canada. She is from Akyem Kotoku.

Mr. Sefah has 4 Boys (Emmanuel Sefah – 17, Javan Dompreh Agyare – 13, Christian Ofosu Frimpong – 11, Trey Jeremy Ofosu – 8) and 1 Girl (Neriah Kuranchie Frimpong – 7)
