Pregnant woman, child killed by speeding vehicle

A seven months old pregnant woman and her child have been killed by a speeding vehicle on Saturday at Nkwabeng, a farming community in the Nkoranza South Municipality of the Brong Ahafo region.

According to reports, the deceased Monica Ankomah, 33 and her daughter, Francisca Adu Sarpong died on the spot. Four others also sustained serious injuries.

Narrating the incident to the Adom News, an eyewitness Kojo Effah said the deceased were standing in front of her husband’s provision shop when the speeding Toyota pickup with registration number GR 6679 S veered off the road and run into them.

 

He noted that, the driver of a pickup was going to a colleagues funeral when the incident occurred.

Four other victims who sustained various degrees of injuries are on admissions at the St Theresa’s Hospital in Nkoranza.

The driver reported himself to the police and is currently assisting in investigations.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have also been deposited St. Theresa’s Hospital mortuary pending autopsy.
