NPP Primaries: Residents in Manso Nkwanta over-excited over the defeat of incumbent MP

A group called itself Concern Youth of Manso Nkwanta in the Manso Nkwanta constituency in the Amansie west district of the Ashanti region are over-excited over their defeated member of parliament, Mr Joseph Albert Quarm, affectionately called Prof. Quarm in the just ended New Patriotic Party parliamentary primaries held across the country.

Mr Joseph Albert Quarm who happens to be the incumbent member of parliament who contested with the former MP , madam Grace Addo whom he beat with only a single vote in 2015 Npp parliamentary primaries to win the seat in the last general elections in the year 2016, has also be beaten in just ended parliamentary primaries.

Mr Joseph Albert Quarm secured a total votes of one fifty seven , whereas Mr George Obeng Takyi secured a total votes of two hundred and seventeen to defeat Prof Quarm .

In an interview with newsmen after the declaration of the election results residents within the constituency present expressed their gratitude to the Npp delegates for voting against Mr Joseph Albert Quarm.

According to the group spokesperson, Mr Kwame Boakye said, the defeated MP has become a bigger burden on them due to his arrogant nature in him which he looks down upon his own constituents whose votes mandated him to enter into parliament in 2017.

The group also accused their defeated MP of using his position as a Board Member of the Minerals Commission to embark upon illegal mining activities in most of the communities within the constituency which he refuses the youth to also engage into it.

The jubilant youth also hinted, soon after assuming office as a member of parliament to represent the chiefs and people of Manso Nkwanta, Mr Joseph Albert Quarm, started jumping from one media house to the other calling for a total ban on illegal mining activities in the country but now he himself is seriously into it and denying the youth to also engage into it.

An irate youth who hails from Manso Nsiana also the hometown of Prof Quarm is claiming and insisting, their mp is using his influence in government and his Board Member position in minerals commission to hide behind certain people within the constituency in embarking upon illegal mining activities also known as Galamsey.

The youth are also accusing the minister for Lands and Natural Resources, who should know better , that he recently came to Nsiana to commission a Community Mining project which according to the youth is not.

The youth therefore appealed to the president His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, to revoke the appointment of Mr Joseph Albert Quarm, as a board member for the minerals commission and also revoke all the licenses that their mp is having and using them for illegal mining ( Galamsey ) operational activities and claiming he is engaging into responsible and community mining.

They have also threatened to vote massively against the Npp in the upcoming general elections if their MP’s mining licenses are not revoked and not sacked from his position as a minerals commission board member.

“When Prof Kwabena Frimpong Boateng chairman for the Inter ministerial Committee of the Illegal mining (IMCIM) was Preaching for the need of the small scale miners to resort to Responsible mining (community mining) which the Government has already launch, Mr Joseph Albert Quarm was on the airwaves raising insults on Prof Kwabena Frimpong boateng, and passing all manner negative comments on the initiative ,all Because he Quarm himself engage in the illegal mining (galamsey) activities” Kwame Boakye revealed.
