Highlife musician, Kwaisey Pee says Ghana has no celebrities.
According to him, comparing the financial status of celebrities living in the Western World to the ‘so-called’ Ghanaian celebrities, he is yet to see one in Ghana.
He learnt A-list acts includes; Daddy Lumba, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, and Stonebwoy among others can be called celebrities, Kwaisey Pee on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM said:
” Ghana has no celebrities because I have lived in the Western world and when we talk about celebrities I hope we all know. It’s the other way round in ghana. I do not consider myself as one because I haven’t gotten to where people will call that. It’s self-professed in Ghana. There is no celebrity in Ghana. They do not have what it takes.” he told host KMJ.
Kwaisey Pee stated that Menzgold’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as Nam1 nearly became a celebrity because “he had a private jet and all the luxurious cars” he added.
He also said some pastors are likely to attain the celebrity status because “they have some luxurious properties.
“The musicians are only trying [to catch up the celebrity status”.
