To commemorate the Muslim festival of Eid Kabir, Pastor Yohanna Buruj, General Overseer of The Christ Evangelical and Life Intercessory Fellowship Ministry Sabon Tasha, Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria has this morning distributed over 2000 take-away packs of food to Muslims who are Destitute, inmates of drug rehabilation centres,Internally Displaced persons and others suffering from one form of physical deformity or the other.
Food items were also given to the street kids popularly called Almajirai.
According to the Pastor, the food donation was aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians across the 36 states of Nigeria and to help the needy Muslims brother and sisters with food to eat at home with their families and to encourage them in praying for Nigeria.
The take away food was distributed to people with different forms of deformities, inmates, Almajirai and some poor Muslims families in the state.
“we have to help our poor Muslims brothers with food,in other to enable them celebrate the festivity with joy and happiness like any other Muslims across the world.
“so as to strengthening good relationship with Muslims, and promote religious Tolerance, better understanding among different faith base organization.
The cleric said, This is not the first time, the church is distributing foods stuffs to needy Muslims during Muslim festivities.
Adding that last year, “Over 1,100 packaged food and drinks were distributed to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), destitute and widows and some prison inmate in Kaduna state, and all this is to support the poor in breaking their fast with happiness and joy like any other Muslims across the planet”.
Buru pointed out clearly that, the reason why the church is helping the poor Muslims is because,
“Both the Muslims and Christians were children of Adam and Eve “Biological parents”, Both Muslims and Christians believe in One God “Allah” both Muslims and Christians have holy books which are Bible and Qur’an, Both of them believed in life after death ,and both Believed in paradise and hell, so we are all brothers and sisters, therefore we must support each other to live in peace and harmony”
Additionally buru said ,the increase in the prices of food commodities at various markets has forced many Nigerians into difficulties, adding that most prices of food stuff and other commodities in the market have almost triple than the normal price that consumers usually buys at local markets
Buru appealed to wealthy Muslims and Christians across the 36 states of Nigeria and government at all level to find means of assisting the poor, most especially the widows and orphans with food to eat during festivity like this
“God listen to the prayers of Widows, orphans and Destitute, therefore let’s take this advantage of taking full care of them,so that when they eat and then pray to God to Give us peace in the our country,peace that can end all forms terrorism activities in Africa”
Receiving the food item at the physically challenged person home at Kano road kaduna, mallam Tukur Zubairu, Leader of blind people in kaduna central expressed satisfaction over the continuous food donation annually by the Christians to the disabled person which is usually spearheaded by Pastor Yohanna
He said,” Today is sallah,but there is no one that remember us,we have been with hungry since morning,there is nothing to eat until when pastor and his team visited the house”
After distributing the food packs in Kano road, the clergy and his members visited Mallam Niggaz Rehabilitation Center located at Rigasa, a densely Muslim populated area in Kaduna central.
There, the Christian cleric donated three big basins all filled with food items to the inmates of the centre.
the Pastor commended the effort of Mallam Lawal Maduru for taking drug addicts and victims of drug use off the streets, and for rehabilitating them.
He went further to ask the state government to partner with Mallam Maduru to help rehabilitate those affected by illicit use if drugs.
While receiving the items on behalf of the centre, Mallam Lawal Maduru,the Founder of Niggas Rehabilitation Centre urged other religious clerics to emulate the good gesture of Pastor Yohanna Buru.
Mallam nigga concluded by saying that “we must help one another to make Nigeria great irrespective of our ethnic religious, political differences”.
