As I Grow (NGO) which is based in Larteh -Akuapem is poised for reducing BECE failure in the country.
It could be recalled that on 23rd February, 2019,the NGO organized a workshop for 169 candidates in the Akuapem North Municipality specifically for the candidates in four schools in Larteh in five(5) subject areas(Mathematics, English Language,Integrated Science, ICT and Social Studies.
These schools were: Anglican, Methodist, Presby and Roman Catholic Junior High Schools respectively.
The main motive for the program organized in collaboration with WAEC Examiners was to help the candidates:
– reduce BECE failures in the municipality
– prepare well for examination
– know how to approach examination question.
– answer examination question with appropriate answers and demands
– know what they are to write in relation to a given question.
The CEO of As I Grow,Mr Debrah Bekoe Isaac, in an interview told our outfit that, he visited the BECE Center on 10th June, 2019 early in the morning to meet the candidates before the start of the examination.
He briefed us on the aim of his visit before the commencement of the examination. He pointed it out that As I Grow (NGO) aims at motivating the candidates intrinsically and extrinsically, hence after organising the workshop, they need to be around to encourage the candidates to have the courage to write the examination.
Mr Debrah pointed out that most of these candidates, though have written series of examinations,
begin to fear and panic when they get into a new environment to write their final examination.
Addressing the candidates in brief,he urged them to do away with fear, cheating and various forms of examination malpractice which may lead to the cancellation of their papers. He told them to go all out to do their best, answer questions they best understand and read questions thoroughly, put down their points, develop them well before they put them in writing or essays.
After this short address,he distributed pens to all the candidates as a token for their examination and prayed with them to seek the support of the Almighty God.
