Nineteen candidates who sat for the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have had their entire results cancelled for bringing mobile phones into the examination hall according to a statement released by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) on Thursday.
The statement further stated that 173 candidates also had their subject results cancelled for bringing foreign material into the examination hall.
A total of 517,331 candidates took part in the examination nationwide.
“2,497 subject results have been withheld pending the conclusion of investigations into examination malpractice. The withheld subject results will either be released or cancelled as soon as the Council concludes it’s an investigation,” the statement added.
The results are currently being hosted online and according to WAEC, candidates “who do desire, may access their results at the Council’s website.”
